Life & times of the B-H's

all the fun of the fair...

This is a the michaelmas fair in Newbury.

The first time I went to this fair I was 16 and on the way to meet a boy (who at 40 may be reading this now!). I was with 2 friends and it seemed the most exciting and scary thing in the world. This is bearing in mind it was my first term at St Barts in the 6th form. Up until that point I had been at an all girls school in Reading. I am not sure which was more scary, going to the fair with no adults or meeting said boy.....

The fair seemed huge then and now the exact same fair seems tiny. It had even appeared in a novel by Christina Jones, as being the last big fair of the year.

5 years ago we won a fish here that we still have called Puck, he now has his friends Bottom and then Doris and Norman. We also had Jake until this summer that came from the same fair. Unfortunately he got poorly a couple of months ago and we lost him. So Daddy was charged with winning another tonight ans was so rubbish on the second go the chap took pity and gave us the fish. He is called Charlie Brown. keep your fingers crossed... He is in the hospital tank for a week just to make sure.

We took Alfie for the first time last year and this year he went on a couple of rides, the best being 'our van' which was a barbie camper van on a track that he went on twice and had a total melt down about getting off.
