Fly Agaric

Tell you what sweetheart, lets go take lots of pictures of mushrooms today :) No I did not utter those words to himself as we set off on our walk round Tentsmuir Forest but that was what transpired :) Strange what this blipping lark does to you!

Yet another day of grey cloud - dry and breezy. The sun did attempt to break through but on the whole was beaten back by the cloud

The woods smelt damp and autumnal and held a bounty of mushrooms in all shapes and sizes. Its hard work snapping them - you have to bend right down to their level - which is tough when you are the best part through a 10 mile walk! We walked through the woods to the Loch, which has a nature reserve and many birds on the water (another chance for me to bemoan my lack of a decent lens for the camera) At the loch we had a picnic in the hide and watched the birds for a while

Needless to say by the time we got back home, some 4 hours after we set out - we were knackered. Not heard a peep out of the dogs since then!

The picture shows a fly agaric mushroom - I am no expert but its the one I always associate with fairies and woodland folk. I believe it has psychotropic properties, but I am certainly not about to find out! Red = Danger in my book. Saw loads of them but not a single fairy - damn! :)
