Crafty Girls

After getting Jack off to preschool, I was able to take a quick run while Doug, Josie and Grant made last minute preparations for their Boy Scout Family Camping Trip. They left soon after I returned and will be back late Saturday night. Hopefully they won't be too cold in their tents.

After running Emily to water polo practice, I returned to Stockton to pick up Jack and then returned to Lodi to pick up Emily. I treated Jack to a milk shake from the Frosty Freeze near Lodi High. He picked chocolate and pronounced it "very yummy." We then picked up Emily's friend Mari and stopped by Joanne's on the way home to pick up supplies for the tutus and t-shirts they planned to make for Wednesday's homecoming rally. In the car, Jack learned the meaning of "triple dog dare" from the girls and he triple dog dared Emily to say "Bacaw" (sp?) the Russian word for Goodbye that he learned in preschool to the clerk at Joanne's. True to her word, she told the young male clerk "Bacaw." He found the girls and Jack to be very amusing.

After getting home, we realized that we had forgotten the elastic for the tutus. Since Jack and I hadn't eaten lunch and it was approaching 1:45 the girls worked on their tye-dyed t-shirts while we ate and then I ran them back to Joanne's. The same clerk recognized the girls and asked again what word she'd said before. We all got a good laugh and returned home so Gracie could show them how to make the tutus before she had to leave for swim practice.

While the girls worked on their tutus I made cookies for Kidz Inc. tonight at church. Mari's dad picked her up while I was getting Gracie from swim. We headed to Kidz Inc. around 6:30. The performance was clever as always and then there was a very touching tribute to Paola the kids director who is leaving after 5 years for a new phase of her life in Pittsburg. I don't know who will take her place, but whoever does has some VERY large shoes to fill! Paola will be very surely missed.
