Blackpool Tram
This is a poor photo of a Blackpool Illumination tram leaving base and heading towards its passengers. As someone who has lived on the edge ( and for a few years right in the middle) of the Illuminations all her life, I had no inclination to follow it.
"The Blackpool Illuminations have been a major part of Blackpool's attraction since 1879 when they were described as "Artificial Sunshine"
Facts:
The display consists of over one million bulbs.
There are more than 500 floodlights and spotlights.
There are more than 100 miles of festoon strip strung between promenade poles and across the carriageway.
Over 3 million people visit the Illuminations.
They open in early September and are switched off in November.
