Deciduous With Evergreen

Met J today at our usual cafe on Baggot Street. Beautiful day, the windows in the old redbricks across the road open and airing. Walked him back to work across Stephen's Green and met some of his staff D and P, then M L with PS (the latter is translating his work into Polish). Checked Dubray to see if Muldoon's Maggot is out yet. No. Then back to my car on Fitzwilliam Sq. (phoned S on the way and agreed to pick up the wean early and take him to playground). Couldn't stop looking at the clouds, so clearly cut against he warm blue-yellow. I'd noticed this burst balloon earlier, across the street from the Huguenot graveyard. Something about the green. When I saw the leaves slotted into the gutter nearby the whole tableau clicked and spoke to me. One of my students (in the CW sessions I run in UCD) recently mentioned that word: serendipity. And there it is, my Autumn image.
