Offensive weapon??
I am getting more than fed up with the way society treats our law abiding teenagers. My 17 year old son went to Morrisons today to buy some disposable razors, but they refused to sell them to him. They will not sell anything that could be used as a weapon to the under 18s. He needs to shave for heaven's sake. Couldn't they see the stubble. All teenagers use disposable razors. They are part of their personal hygiene and part of growing up! A tin of soup would be more useful as a weapon: you could hit someone on the head with it.
My son is allowed to drive a car ( a potential lethal weapon) but he isn't old enough to be trusted with a disposable razor. Madness!!
Update: My son now tells me that the refusal was a few weeks back - not today. After the last time he was too embarrassed to try again today. I have checked up on the rules and whilst they shouldn't sell razor blades to the under 18s, disposable razors are ok.
Knives
It is illegal to sell the following items to anyone under 18-years-old:
any knife, knife blade or razor blade;
any axe;
any article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed, and which is made or adapted for causing injury to the person.
The prohibition does not apply to:
a folding pocket knife with a blade of less than three inches (7.62cm); or
a razor blade permanently held in a cartridge or similar housing where less than 2mm of the blade is exposed.
