New horizons

Another day, another trip south to Bristol - but this time the last one.

And as I write this, we are finally settling into our new flat.

I remember when I was a teenager leaving home for the first time to take my journalism course in Sheffield. It was a terrible wrench and in the early days the homesickness really hit me.

I wouldn't say I'm anything like as bad as that right now, but this change has certainly been a very unsettling experience, no matter how good the flat is, or how convenient it will be. And I reckon it will take a few weeks to get back on an even keel.

But it was good to bump into my friend CleanSteve and his partner Helena before I went, and an extra lift was provided by my football team winning.

I'm now looking forward to a long lie-in even on a workday. I won't have to depart until 9.30pm and that is a big plus!
