IT ISN'T SUMAC
My quest for the day was somebody toiling the soil or at least picking grapes or spreading olive nets. I should have known better. There was a heavy downpour this morning and that sort of thing puts people off doing those sort of things.
The skies cleared and I found a riches of things to photograph up in the mountains. I loaded them onto my computer, determined to use the best photograph, no matter what it was, or at least the one I might never get again. That would have been a dog standing in the middle of the road looking charming. The best is a brick medieval farm shed in ruins.
Right, the bright rust colour in the background is that shed. I don't even know what this plant is and it is not for lack of trying to find out. I thought it was sumac, but it isn't. If anybody knows, please, for heaven's sake, let me know. It is probably so common no book bothers to record it. So, criteria has gone out the window. It comes down to likes best.
This wild flower was a contender: Mountain wild flower, probably mallow.
As we were driving back, the clouds lowered, it grew dark and the rain started to drizzle down again.
I have been having terrible trouble getting comments to go through. Maybe the glitch has been fixed. We shall see.
I have been told the local name for this is uvino, but that just means little grape. Also, this has not been near photoshop, cropped only. It's just a terrific lens.
