Mermaid

The German evening was suitably bizarre - 9 people, 4 different nationalities and a lot of very hearty food! The apfel crumble was exceptional!! complete with custard; the rosti was also very good as was the fresh sauerkraut. We then played a very silly card game - Jungle something - where you had a to grab a totem if you had the same shape on the card. All a bit hectic and required too much concentration for a Sunday night.
Calm morning at school followed by lots of work in the garden before the rain arrived. The polytunnel is now cleared and trees are pruned and wood shredded.
Today's blip is a rather fine sculpture which overlooks Bantry Bay. It was erected to commemorate all people lost at sea in the area - unfortunately quite a large number. It is very much open to interpretation but I think the woman is a mermaid and she is rescuing a drowning sailor. It has a a great presence and movement to it and is an interesting bluey/grey - copper in there somewhere.
Thanks for all the comments on the medlar!!
