Legislature Tree at night
Last night I was shooting some time exposures of the Victoria Legislature and ended up shooting into this morning. While taking a long exposure of the legislature fountain, I looked around and noticed the legislature tree from a different perspective. This tree has been the source of frustration for many photographers for many years. It is a massive tree that sits in front of the legislature and blocks your view and makes it very difficult to get a picture of the whole legislature. This morning I saw the tree for the first time lit by the reflected lights of the legislature. I could see more detail than I expected, so I decided to try a long exposure of the tree from the lawn between the tree and the legislature. I was amazed that the picture worked and liked the contrast between the light tree and the dark night sky. I am going to have to try more pictures with this technique!
