Monkey(s) Music

11 months (47weeks + 6)

Today's been a very musical day for Katie and I. After a quick trip to see her little friends at tea and toast, and to have a second breakfast, we went to a trial session of Monkey Music. Katie liked it. But it was quite a young group and those nearer to her age weren't at similar stages of development. It was fun but it felt like she was heading towards being too old for that group.  Katie spent the whole lesson wanting her monkey as everyone kept talking about 'where's monkey'! 

After a sleep, we went for a second trial sesson, the first session of the new Kindermusik in our area. Whilst this was a tiny group (3 this week), we really liked the session. There was a more 'holistic' approach, looking to help their development in more areas. Katie liked the free toy and book we got too!


Katie at 11 Months

She now:
* walks full rooms-length unaided
* feeds herself with a spoon
* crayons a picture
* pulls clothing over her head
* undoes velcro shoes (DOH!)
* says cat, yes, drink, up, out, that, this and a few more new ones
* weighs 18lb 5 1/2 oz
* does the actions to the wheels on the bus
* plays pretend with Monkey - cleaning and feeding him
* swallows the skins of grapes, not just chews the juicy bits off!
* will express her preference if you offer a choice between foods. Very clearly.

She likes:
* Thumpers Busy Day - book
* shepherds pie, raisins, asparagus, bolognese, grated cheese, bakewell tart
* hurling herself off her floppy float mat at swimming
* climbing everything and anything - into toy boxes, under chairs and tables, up soft play/stairs

She doesn't like:
* Having her nappy changed
* Not being able to get into locked cupboards/blocked spaces
* Organix goodies mini biscuits
