Birthday Pie
We started our morning bright and early. We had to be at the soccer fields by 7:30 a.m. for Landon's 8 o'clock game. Landon's soccer game went really well and their team won their game. Then it was Liam's game at 10:15, so we just stayed at the fields. Liam's team (The Sharks) was warned by their coach that they were playing a difficult team to beat today. This game was INTENSE! They tied 2-2 with Liam playing goalie part of the game. He did a great job at it and pretty much jumped on the ball like he was tackling it anytime it got close to the net! Then we went home for a short bit since we were the snack parents for Loren's game. We fed the kids and gathered the snacks and headed right back to the field. Loren's team played incredibly and won 8-0!
After the busy day of soccer we headed home to celebrate my father-in-laws birthday as well as my nephew's 15th birthday that were this past week. Gary Sr.'s dinner of choice was chop suey. He grew up having his mom cook that for him and then we got the recipe a while back from Gary Sr.'s sister (my Gary's Aunt Nina). I say 'recipe' loosely because she just said 'a little bit of this and a little bit of that'. The recipe doesn't involve exact measurements. She always served it over white rice. That was Gary's staple growing up and his aunt and grandma had him rinsing the starch out of it prior to cooking as one of his chores. I was kind of relieved when Gary Sr. asked for the chop suey because that is the one specific recipe that my Gary always cooks. hee hee So all I did was a little bit of cleaning and the rest of the time I watched Gary cook :D
My father-in-law picked pie as his dessert of choice instead of the regular birthday cake...so I thought that would be a fun 'blip photo'. I took about 150 pictures between the 3 games of soccer today (& loaded them to our Shutterfly team websites) and also took a few of the birthday celebration, but this is the photograph that stood out to me as my blip.
