Alan Davie

Walking through Grangemouth town centre I passed what was the old Halifax Building Society premises in the arcade and there was out of nowhere an art gallery. Someone had put together a collection of stuff by locally born artist Alan Davie. I had blipped one of his pieces earlier so was aware of his work.

Went in today and talking to the guy that was the caretaker it seems that this is the private collection of one man, a Davie enthusiast, who has collected many prints over the years. The work itself is amazing and it's great to see that some one has taken the bother to put an exhibition together in the mans home town on his 90th birthday. Seems that the fellow in question is a colleague of our very own Delph Wynd. So Robin if you are reading this, thank you very much for letting us see your private collection, next time put a wee collection tin there for donations, I gather it has cost you a few quid. I wish I had the money for a copy of Grangemouth 2010..... :)

There is a larger exhibition of Davie oils in Callender House, Falkirk, so I'll be off up there soon.
