A slice of Lesley's life

Happy Birthday Carlos!

Carl's birthday today.

He was mainly at work but didn't need to go in too early and so we were able to have a relatively leisurely opening of presents and cards before the day turned all normal. He also managed to arrange a nice afternoon for himself that largely involved working from home so he was here in good time for a little cake-related celebrating. The cakes from yesterday were decorated and lit so we could serenade the birthday boy. The decorating wasn't quite so full on, or the candles nearly so hazardous, as the image might suggest but I am in a messing about mood. And this image got the birthday seal of approval.

The rest of my day has been good busy, including fitting in meeting a friend for a very lovely lunch. It feels like a long time since we've met up in such quiet circumstances - ie no kids and not a party - and it was good to have chance for a proper chat.

Also, lots more school runs which seem to be a big feature of my days at the moment. Though only for another week or so as Anna will soon there for the full day. I'm glad to have had this bonus time with her but it will help my sanity enormously when that happens.

Off to get ready for the curry-related celebrating part of the day. Carl's having a party on Friday so we hadn't planned to go out tonight. However, when this morning came the birthday boy exercised the birthday prerogative to change his mind so we will be off to the local for a drink, on to a curry house and back to the local for a little game on the quizzie.

Tomorrow looks doubtful
