Canal Day 5 - Disappointment

A disappointing day today. We should have got an extra day of exploring the Leeds/Liverpool canal, but when we got to the Newlay locks the Keepers wouldn't let hired boats go down the locks as there was no guarantee of getting us back up to return our boat on Friday. Later in the day we heard that the lock was closed for the Police to send in divers into the next part of the canal. We just don't know!

So, we are slowly making our way back to Skipton and have pulled in for the night just up from Apperley Bridge.

I sat in the front of the boat trying to catch swallows dipping down to the canal. This was the best! Not brilliant but a first for me.
