The Orphanage

On my big long walk today I got beeped at once, and shouted at once. The beep was to alert me to the fact that an empty taxi was heading my way. The shout was to stop me attempting to open the door of a shop that was closed. Fair enough, I thought.

I have never known Maadi to be so quiet, and so clean. Both things are attributable to the fact that the locals either haven't left their homes for three days, or have been out the city, and therefore haven't been able to throw their garbage all over the place, shout loudly, and beep their effing horns all day and night.

It's all back to normal tomorrow, perish the thought.
