Looks Good To Me

We had a busy day. I dropped C off at the Bellingham Farmers Market just after 10:00 AM for her weekly shop and photo shoot, and headed out into the county for my own photo assignment. It was the 1st Annual South Fork Nooksack River Canoe Clean-Up. Volunteers in a fleet of canoes and kayaks (about 28 boats) were floating down the river, stopping along the way to pick up litter.

It was such a beautiful day that I didn't much mind having to wait over an hour for the boats to reach my location on a gravel bar. The three-year-old son of one of the on-shore volunteers provided some distraction while we waited. The blip shows his favorite trick. He and I launched a few logs and branches, and had a friendly stone-throwing contest. Naturally, I had to demonstrate my prowess at skipping flat stones. The boy got a lot wetter than I did, in spite of repeated admonitions from his mom.

I picked up C from the market at 2:15, we dashed home for a quick snack, and went out to take more photos at a couple of farms on the 3rd Annual Whatcom County Farm Tour -- dueling cameras! We were hoping that a very pregnant cow at one of our favorite dairy farms would decide to give birth, but she didn't oblige. She was very contented, and happy to be getting lots of attention.

For dinner we had very fresh green beans, corn on the cob, and tomatoes, washed down with a beer that was brewed with a little honey and heather -- a simple but delicious meal.

You can see more photos of the canoe clean-up here.
