Canal Day 2 - Speeding Along

The speed some folks travel on the canals! We, on the other hand were quite pleased to finish the travelling and relax in this woodland setting.

The evening was in sharp contrast to the morning. We needed an early start to reach the Bingley 5 Rise staircase locks by 12 noon, otherwise we'd be stuck there until tomorrow morning. Well, we got started early, only to discover a fault. The boatyard said we could carry on and wait for them at the top of the locks. We waited and waited. Time ticked away. Finally the engineers came and sorted a wiring problem with only 20 minutes to spare!

I wanted a little time to play with my new ND filters before starting to make the evening meal. All is quite now, the men have had a busy day, Chippy with steering this rather wide boat, and The Man constantly having to go ashore to open and close lock gates and swing bridges.

Fortunately NONE of us actually SAW the 2 cars of young people drive into each other as The Man returned the bridge into a driveable position! No one seemed hurt, all were able to remember lots of offensive words and were also well enough to be able to get out their mobile phones!

Now for a nice evening with Avatar!
