new growth

The gunnera plants down by the creek are bursting through with new growth. These leaves will become huge - well over a metre across and are quite spectacular. The seed heads are interesting also at the end of summer. Meeting of staff at school today was good to catch up with everyone. Went to visit one staff who had damaged house. No school for children until Monday as all buildings will need rechecking after yesterday's aftershocks. Staff can attend those that are safe - we are!. Good opportunity to get ahead with planning for next term. Still unreal situation though.
