Jetty
This was taken from the clan jettys in Penang. Clan Jettys are docks on the water where whole extended familys live all together. They all live on these jettys that stretch out into the harbrou, and their toilets are just holes in the floor above the water.
Malaysia is very multicultural. The three main groups are the Malay, Chinese, and Indian. It makes walking through the city really cool, because you'll be walking through one neighbourhood that is completely Chinese and then get to the next neighbourhood and it will be completely Indian. It makes for great different kinds of food all over the place. I bought a meal of Thai noodles for about 50 cents Canadian...I am loving that about Asia.
Aparently a lot of the local people hardly even cook for themselves, because it is so cheap to eat out.
I was staying in Penang with some friends of friends. They help run an international high school. The school has almost 500 kids and they come from 27 different countries. Talk about diversity...
Tim and Vi were super hospitable and showed me all around Penang (it was their bike that I got to ride around on) and helped me make plans for the next stage of my journey...Thailand...
The bridge in the background of the picture is the bridge that connects the island of Penang to the mainland.
