Intermission

This is the time between seasons, not quite autumn, not quite winter, when the trees are losing their colorful foliage and beginning their long sleep, plants and shrubs are also bedding down. So, too, are many animals, while some birds are long gone to their "snowbird" haunts. Insects are almost nowhere to be found; the ones remaining will not last long. The atmosphere has that feeling of hesitation, the space between one event and another, an intake of breath before taking the next step. It is both quiet and noisy, like the moments prior to a child dozing off in a nap, an unsettled time in the intermission between the bustle of summer and the solitude of winter.

This is one of a series of 10 Polaroids I shot today at a local park.
