Soccer Blur

Soccer (futbol or football for the rest of the universe outside the US) practice started last week and during this evening's session I realized I still needed a photo for Blip. Not much happening photogenically during drills, so I decided to "drag the shutter" and pan with the action.

To accomplish this took a bit of practice to get my timing right, but I set my ISO to 80, and set the camera to f/8 (the max on a Canon Powershot G11) in Av mode.

The resulting shutter speed of 1/4 sec was perfect for blurring the action and retaining some detail.

With a bit of Photoshop filter magic, I'll bet this could evoke some comparisons to Leroy Neiman...
