A Strange Thing Happened on the Way to the Office

As anyone who knows me will testify to the drive into the office is not something which on a daily basis fills me with joy. I try to find things to distract me - number plates, clouds, shadows and sunlight. Anything really. So imagine my surprise this morning as I drove down the hill to the Tay Bridge.

Normally you see nothing but tailights and the sky. Today this weird construction appeared and it seemed from my point of perspective to be on the Fife side of the river. I stopped at Newport and blipped.

Its an oil rig or similar. We quite often get them, or parts of them coming into the Tay for maintenance. What was strange about this one was that it was fully extended with the platform up in the air - not normal. Contrary to the picture, we had a fine day. The platform is just shrouded in the early mist from the water!

Naturally as I work down by the quay it became my focus for the day....that and the seagulls!
