Today's the day ................. to drive back home

What sort of idiots choose to be driving on the roads on August Bank Holiday Monday? Well, obviously the two of us ........!

After all the excitement of last night's do, we bade our last farewells and set off north to drive home. Annoyingly, after a week of what can only be described as autumnal weather, today was blisteringly hot with hardly a cloud in the sky.

So we took it easy and bought stuff for a picnic lunch - which we ate in a field on route while we watched a couple of buzzards soaring overhead. And then we spent a couple of hours in Hay-on-Wye - the Book town. We thought we would spend endless hours stuck in traffic queues, but as it turned out our journey was fine.

Couldn't help noticing lots of these massive combine harvesters though, ploughing up and down the fields, making the most of the fine weather to gather in the wheat.

No Bank Holidays for them ............
