Gotland

Today we went to a small farm in the Eden Valley to look at an alternative breed of sheep. They come from the island of Gotland off the Swedish coast and have a beautiful silver-grey fleece that is very tightly curled and lustrous and very desirable to artisan spinners and weavers. We are considering using a Gotland ram with some of our mule ewes, which will hopefully produce a lamb that is good for both meat and wool.
