Baking Boys

I know that unless I go through Grant's backpack I don't get all the "important" info that comes home. This morning Grant insisted that they were making cookies in the shape of California and my assistance at school was vital. I did know that the cookie making project was coming up but didn't know for certain it was today. Since Doug didn't need to leave for work until 10 this morning, I decided to go see if a hand was needed.

I ended up assisting a Grandma with a group consisting of Grant and 3 other boys. I have to say, the grandma was really fun to work with and our group of boys were a delight. Although a bit messy with the actual dough making, the boys' attention to detail and complete focus on the project was amazing. I noticed the girls groups were a bit neater in measuring and mixing their dough and surprisingly finished shaping their cookie first. The boys, however, took much more care in the shaping--they looked like little architects slowly, deliberately carving away at the sides of their cookie shaping it into the shape of California and popping the extra dough into their mouths! :) Later this afternoon, after the cookies are cool, they will frost them and add mountain ranges, etc.

This blip is of Grant and his friend Bryce getting a laugh out of measuring flour.

I returned home to relieve Doug of Daddy duties so he could head to work. This afternoon Emily has water polo and then we will head off to Elkhorn for Gracie's school BBQ. It's always a fun time with lots of raffles and games for the kids. We'll keep our fingers crossed that we are lucky and come home with one of the raffle prizes. One year we won an Itunes gift card.
