Bargaining has neither friends nor relations

Bargaining has neither friends nor relations
~Benjamin Franklin

Yesterday was our local Party in the Park. We promised Charlotte to take her. We didn't *really* want to go but a promise is a promise. As we waited in the huge que to pay our £3 each, Michael made a move. He pulled a tenner out of his wallet and negotiated - £10 if we don't have to go plus we'd take her to another fun fair the next day.

Charlotte immediately said 'Make it £20.' Michael said 'Deal'

Now what amazed me was:
A) Michael negotiated with money as he normally just sweet-talks his way around thing with Charlotte
B) Michael didn't say £15 (Although I later found out he was willing to go to £30!!)
C) That it all happened so fast

So instead of the Party in the Park, we went to the antique Center where Charlotte bought us tea and scones with her newfound money.

Then we went for a walk around the center, where they found this birdcage (actually, they have *always* seen the birdcage but this time they saw it was hugely discounted. )

So they started to negotiate with me ...

And as this photo shows - today we are the proud owners of an ornamental birdcage that is almost as big as me.

Talk about getting the short stick.
