Palace of the Knights, Rhodes Old Town

Medieval Rhodes is spectacular, highly photogenic - and very commercial. Tourists are exploited mercilessly as this town takes full advantage of its wonderfully preserved history.

But there are havens of peace and culture. Here, by the Palace of the Knights, artists will sketch and produce pastels while you wait (and surprisingly good ones) and further through the town, a lilac robed flautist in Medieval garb serenades the passers by.
