The Monastery of St John, Patmos

This is a mosaic at the entrance to the chapel in the centre of the Monastery of St John the Evangelist in Patmos, the most northerly of the Dodecanese islands of Greece.

St John received the holy vision in the sacred cave further down the mountain on this island, where he went on to dictate Revelations.....

It is a holy place and exceptionally beautiful.
