Mike
This is Mike, the artist partner of my Edinburgh friend of long standing.
It was she who designed and executed a beautiful piece of stained glass celebrating many happy holidays in Tilos, a tiny island in the Dodecanese, and it was he who inserted it into one of our door frames some 12 years ago.
We told the new castle inmates from the start that we would be taking the stained glass with us and would reinstate the door as it was.
And so this afternoon Mike came to remove the glass and he will make a frame to enable us to put it in one of the windows of the Dower House.
After the deed was done, we sat in the garden in the sun for a bit with wine drunk out of tumblers, since the wine glasses were packed, and enjoyed a moment of calm.
The morning seemed to have been spent hauling yet more belongings down from the turrets and hoovering up a disgusting amount of dust which had found a hiding place behind heavy furniture.
It is amazing how time flies when you're having as much fun as this.
One bright spot early today was finding a bag of lovely potatoes on the doorstep.
It bore all the hallmarks of having been left by EcoDad. A big thank you from us to him is deserved and we will enjoy eating them this week.
