Frying Forty Falafel for Forty Friends
This blip photo is a result of a project of my son, Loren. It is falafel with cucumber sauce seen here. I got it off of my favorite recipe site www.AllRecipes.com. He had to bring a Greek food for Drama class since they are learning about Greece right now. Well, originally it was a Middle Eastern dish, but since then Greek restaurants have adapted it and serve it as a popular dish. So we decided that's Greek enough for us after ruling out stuffed grape leaves (aka Dolma) and Baklava. Liam's teacher supplied us with grape leaves from her grandma's freezer, so we will definitely be making that dish just for fun.
I have spent most of my day either cooking or running back and forth to their schools a bunch today. We ran out of time between soccer and tons of homework to finish the falafel last night, so part of Loren's project became my project. Picked up Landon at 1 pm, dropped off this food while warm between 5th and 6th period at 2 pm, went back to get Liam at school at 3 pm and went back to Loren's school at 3:15. I've learned the safety at the new school is important, as I was almost tackled by staff for not getting cleared through the office to drop off the food with my son when he was passing between classes! I guess I'm happy that they are strict on strangers entering. You never know ... a mom carrying a Pyrex traveling dish may have an uzi hidden in it.
Treated the boys to Jolly Rancher flavored slushies today...I don't recommend them...at least not the Watermelon-flavored. I just felt we deserved a treat after the end of this EXHAUSTING week. Looking forward to a Friday night of video rental and down time...I'm feeling really run down.
