Ancient Goat-Glyph

Being around animals is so soothing. Probably downright healing. I'm not speaking of the healing of a particular illness, here, just writing as a reality-sore sensitive who feels the imperative, more and more pressing, to relearn how to live without the city-consumer-supermarket supplies of necessities.

How do we combine the ancient arts of growing plants and animals, with new green technologies and insights, to create ways that are harmonious for all, and become more self-sustained, less dependent on the corporations and their versions of what we supposedly need? Which we now know is a construct that is killing our world?

The answers may lie somewhere between the grit and the mystery. Perhaps it resides and grows in the marriage of the two.

Look at this goat. See how it curves into a form which reads like an ancient glyph, a huruf, letter in a pre-Arabic alphabet, an alif - a sign to us, that is both the lovely form of this young goat itself (so soft to the touch, and still with the high squeeaky voice of kid-dom) and a message. A visual poem channeled by Rumi. A promise of the possibility of an era where the gifting of resources demand no sacrifice of blood or of your children...

Thank you little goat, lovely complement to my cat's alphabetic repose of the blip before this. Now that I have two letters to work with, maybe I can begin to decipher the message...
