Bistro
for morning meeting.
Well I say meeting, it's more an excuse to have breakfast and a chat with a colleague/friend before proper work begins.
It's never really boring in that office anyway but today was rather more exciting than usual. Lots needed to be done in the office proper but when returning from the coffeerun we were met by an elderly gentleman disputing his right to go for a walk with two carers. It is indeed a human right to be able to come and go as we please in this country however when the person in question has dementia sadly other rules have to be applied for his/her and everybody's safety. A sudden step on the very busy road could result in a tragic accident. So we helped to keep him away from the road and finally with a lot of persuasion he was happy enough to return to safety.
My admiration goes out to all those families and carers who deal with these tricky situations every day and do it with enthusiasm and patience.
I had thought about some further studies into the field of dementia and today's incident has rekindled the interest so I will read up on the courses once again.
Downloaded some music this afternoon and am now listening to Schubert. Some of his songs are just very moving. An die Musik for instance.
