Regal Lily

Lillium Regale has a beautiful perfume. this morning after the rain it looks stunning. The hoverflies love it as well as the bees.

We have had millions of aphids recently but at last they are being matched by the number of hoverflies whose larvae eat thousands in a lifetime. The flat heads of bronze fennel flowers are swarming with hover flies of all shapes and sizes. I may get a photo of them tomorrow.
