"Eco" in Belfast

- Backblip - Northern Ireland Day 14

I knew I was in Rutherfordium's patch today. I kept my eyes peeled, but no Blip encounter.

This sculpture Eco by Marc Didou, is outside one of the Queen's University Buildings, created to mark the centenary of the institution in 2008. What a Blip haven, especially placed so close to the Botanical Gardens.

Our day in Belfast :-
Botanics : Visit to the Palm House and Tropical Ravine.
Ulster Museum : very impressed with the displays and design of the space. Particularly liked the photographic displays and installation by Willie Doherty.
Queen's University : Quadrangle, Library area and Lanyon Building.
Two Hour Bus Tour : Highlights were the Harland the Wolff Shipyards; the Titanic Quarter; the murals linked to "The Troubles"; Sandy Row; Stormont; the Peace Wall and the Cathedral.

The Crown Liquor Saloon, where we ended our day with an Irish Stew and a pint. Built in the 1880s, the bar is owned by The National Trust - beautifully restored interior with stained glass, marble, mosaics, tiling and scrolled plasterwork.
