What a Pickle!

Every year Chris makes green tomato chutney. The difference this year is that he has become impatient and made it about a month early.

This picture was taken at 00.45am! I had been to a 'make up' party and when I got in at 11.30pm it was still simmering away, it needed about another 45 mins and then had to be bottled up. I think we are in danger of becoming nocturnal. In fairness he had started the process at 4.00pm.

Another difference is he put some Rhubarb in - our next door neighbour had brought some around earlier in the day. It is usually quite spicy and is very popular with everyone so we will have to wait and see what difference, if any, this makes. He made 9 jars, of variable sizes, in all and may yet get enough tomatoes for another batch.

It all goes away now to mature till the grand tasting at Christmas.
