What's up Doc?
Today we were to visit the 14th July Glacier. The morning trip was to these amazing cliffs where kittiwakes, guillemots and puffins are nesting. It's tricky taking photographs from a zodiac, rolling waves, rolling zodiac, motor and the other people all conspire to make the photography a nightmare. So there's little to show for it. I did like this shot though as it would appear that the puffin to the left is talking to himself and everyone is ignoring him.
This is the first time I had seen puffins. I had thought that they lived in burrows, but here they were on the open cliff face. They are a really dumpy - related to the penguin - and are not built to fly. Taking off is quite a procedure with lots of down before the up.
A grey and not very inspiring day.
