Roberto & Alex

Roberto (on the left) is the son of Isabel, one of my closest friends here in Barcelona. Isabel and I used to work together and have seen each other through many ups and down over the years and have cried together and laughed together. We know each other well, helped by sharing Scottish roots. Tonight was Isabel's birthday and it was a special one because just a few weeks ago Roberto was literally within an inch of his life after a car crash; he was in intensive care for days, had to have many blood transfusions and lost 5 kilos, but he's now well on the road to recovery, in high spirits and is literally full of the joys of life.....as you can see here. Happy Birthday Isabel - you couldn't have a better present than having all your family around you tonight!
