On the Scotia
Today we dived the wreck of the Scotia, a dredging barge that sank off Dunbar in 45m.
The buckets aand drive wheel are intact but most of the wreck is mashed up. It's a real haven for marine life with loads of nooks and crannies for them to hide in. This was one of five Yarrell's Blennies living in one metal beam. It was a good dive but not the one we'd planned for today.
Yesterday we learned about the Black Friday fishing disaster. Today we heard that a fishing boat had been hit by a ferry during the night, just off Eyemouth. Of the two crew, one was recovered but the second, a 16 year old boy is still missing. Fishing is still a risky way to make a living. A very sad end to the week.
