Fromages de chèvre
Apologies if this blip makes cheese lovers hungry. It's even yummier large.
These are some of the the goat's milk cheeses at La Maison Saint-Aubain, a cheese store I love in Namur. The place smells marvelous in an earthy way. Good cheese shops don't have that cheesy pong at all. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable and allow customers to sample whatever cheeses they want. They sell about two hundred kinds of artisanal cheese from all over Europe. Their selection changes with the seasons and I know I will never be able to finish sampling them all. My waistline and wallet simply won't allow it. Each time I walk in there telling myself I'm only going to buy 2 kinds of cheese I never leave with less than five or six. At least.
My girlfriend T from New York makes a beeline for this place whenever she visits me. She's cheese-mad and lactose-intolerant, and comes away each time with a scandalous haul of cheese, vacuum-packed for her by the boss, Monsieur Depouhon, at no extra charge. She then spends her entire flight back to the US praying that customs won't discover the sinful contraband in her luggage. So far so good.
This photo was taken through glass and under store lighting. I did try to read up on white balance, hoping to work out how to make my pictures appear less yellow when shot under artificial light. Naturally, I understood none of it, gave up and had some cheese instead.
