Yeoooow!
Easy blip today. I had been wondering what to post, and was considering knocking off early for a mooch round the park, when this email came through to tell me that my first paper has (finally) been accepted! :)
We had the fortune/misfortune of getting a very picky second referee for this one, who found lots of little issues with our notation in the theory section. It was no trouble to carry out his recommendations, they didn't require any actual extra work, but when his second report came back with even more little niggles I started to worry. Thankfully he didn't have it in for us (as I was starting to suspect) and he has recommended it be published with one more minor typo to correct. Good cop (referee number 1) gave it the green light from day 1.
This is a massive relief for me because with 6 weeks until my thesis deadline I really needed to get something to show for all the hard months of coding and calculating. Now that this has gone through I can finish off a follow-up and get it submitted too.
I also got some good news today from an experimentalist whose experiment we've been modelling, and with that paper in the pipeline as well I might actually have three published or submitted before my viva (with another lurking that may or may not ever see the light of day). That would help a lot!
I'm off to the Apple Store in Belfast this evening for an event with Rob (bluestonefilm), the first non-twitter blipper I'll have met in real life. Looking forward to that :)
