First Day of School
Today the boys returned to school. Loren started middle school, Liam started 3rd grade and Landon started kindergarten. It was a highly emotional day with these 2 big milestones. Loren arrived to the school ready to pick up his schedule on HIS OWN and start his 1st day of switching classes. He really just wanted me to drop off and promised I could snap a picture in front of his school at the END of the day so as not to embarrass him. I obliged and he followed through on his promise as well :) We also had a meeting in the afternoon with the principal so that any questions we had about the new school were answered. I'm glad they scheduled it, even though it was VERY difficult to schedule pick-up/drop-offs with the other kiddos because of the meeting.
Landon allowed many photographs for his very first day of kindergarten...but got tired of them after a while and finally put his lunchbox in from of his face. He excitedly went into the class and once it was 'morning meeting' time in a circle on the mat, he made a point of showing everyone his new shoes with the light up tiger eyes. Once it was time to say goodbye he said 'Mommy, you can go now!' That was much better than him hugging my leg and crying, I suppose. He is my baby and is just not supposed to grow up. There is seriously something wrong with the idea that he is even in kindergarten already. He is our youngest to start, being 4 years old still for just a few more weeks. Our others started at 5. I left him without a tear until getting to the end of the school's hallway and a friend ask me if I was o.k., then I bawled like a baby.
Liam was happy to be returning to his friends! He has the same teacher and the same class of friends because they practice 'looping' at their school. Looping is where they keep the same teacher for 2 years. That way the teacher follows them up one grade and gets a good idea of what level each kid is at and what they each need to work on. He loved his teacher from last year and we feel blessed that he will have another year with her.
