Lángos by the lake

Ildi and I, having returned to Hungary, set off for her little family house near the shore of Lake Balaton, the "Hungarian Sea".

Here, in a beach-side catering environment that Ildi says has not changed in more than 25 years, we indulged in the decidedly fattening but wholly delicious Lángos, a deep fried flat bread made of a dough with flour, yeast, salt and water.

It is eaten fresh and warm, topped with sour cream and grated cheese, ham, or sausages, rubbed with garlic or garlic butter, or doused with garlic water. We opted for the garlic water.

Our tasty treat was served with refreshing cups of kisfröccs (see my blip of yesterday)...
