Mother, happy birthday

Taking a photo of a photograph is a bit of a cop out but I have no alternative if I want to take one of my mother. My father who was a very organised man, kept some semblance of a diary for the majority of his life. Here is his entry for my Mothers 42nd birthday, my age today.

July 27/Friday

Up to birthday Mum, out at Leyburn market. Lunch in Caravan PM Coverdale etc. Evening at Donkey Derby. Bed lateish.

I've always thought that diaries albeit personal accounts of your day/life/whatever are sort of there to be read later. My father was methodical in doing this, I think for a reason.

My mother, pictured here on their wedding day, was the best I could ever hope for. She would have celebrated her 79th birthday today. Not a maudlin person by nature but I kept thinking about her today while enduring a first aid course which might one day save a life.

Dinner shall be served shortly in the garden.
