Day of the flying ants
A lovely day today. Every year there are flocks of seagulls who circle having a feast on winged ants. Today was one of those days. Hundreds of the birds circled above us, snaffling up thousands of the ants. I guess they are nature's equivalent of the bowl of olives.
Very very busy day as goes with the script round these parts. Some bits good, some considerably less so.
A thought struck me in the afternoon. Many people I know are celebrating things worth celebrating, hitting 40, hitting 50, hitting 30, hitting 21, hey I know people of all ages. Others hitting 50 years marriage, lots to celebrate.
Today, had life panned out differently, I could have been celebrating my mother's 80th birthday. But that is life, and had that been the scenario, I might be a slightly different person, things would have no doubt been more complicated.
