The Verbier Music Festival

The Verbier Music Festival attracts people year after year and one very enthusiastic German couple I stood next to in the queue this morning were adamant that it is the best in the world.

Not only does it regularly attract the most important names in the classical music world but it also has the most welcoming and friendly atmosphere. There is little snobbery and so much fun. Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, Joshua Bell can be seen relaxing and meeting their friends.

Add to the formal concerts the excellent array of free events - masterclasses with the top names (Zakhar Bron, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, and last year Dame Kiri Te Kanawa) and Alfred Brendel or Yuri Bashmet in conversation..... rambles, open rehearsals and jazz lunches...... and all in the most magnificent Alpine village with first class food and wine !!!
