I went out for a meal tonight - as a farewell to our Chair of Governors' at the Infant School where I have been a Community Governor for the last 7 years.

However, I was also sad as I too have resigned from my position there. I've really enjoyed my time there - and I really feel as though I've made a worthwhile contribution during my 2 terms of office. I've survived 2 Ofsted inspections - both with good results, and the second one improved on the first ... and I've seen many governors come and go and I've played a very active part in meetings, and school events.

With such radical changes so imminent in my life - and with my term of office coming to an end, now was the right time to go.

However, the evening was a poignant one - because for the first time our partners were invited to join us for the meal.

I went on my own. I did, however, enjoy the evening ... despite the person who should have been there with me being over 100 miles away. I would say 'next time' except there won't be one ... Not with the governors anyway.

The food was good though!
