Up the wall

The school gala this afternoon involved many small(ish) children over-indulging with sweets, ice-creams, hot dogs and hamburgers, wet sponges, footballs, unicycles ... and for my children ... this.

The prospect of a large (almost) vertical wall many times my own height wouldn't be a thrilling one for me ... but my children - yes, this includes James - possibly the most un-sporty child in the whole school - were really 'up' for it ... and up they went!

To my surprise, James went straight up (although struggled to get down) yet Sophie was much more cautious, and she faltered on her first attempt.

However, she come down, calmed down. and tried again ... and this time she flew up to the top and even abseiled down properly too!
