Crocodile!

It was my second day shift today and quite a busy day! We did another 'move up' (see yesterday's blip for an explanation!) this morning because there had been a burst water main at 5.30am which nearly flooded a house. The firefighters on shift last night attended and had to divert the water from entering the house and then clean up a lot of the water that had managed to get into a basement. They were still there at 10.30 this morning which was past their finish time of 8am! It is just part of the job though, we can't suddenly stop what we are doing because it is the end of our shift! If it is going to be a protracted incident we usually get the change over crew to the incident in a taxi to relieve the previous crew.

We got back to our station at 11.15 then had a drill, then went and got lunch, then started to do another move up until we got cancelled, then had a call (false alarm, steam from a shower getting into the smoke alarm) then cleaned the station, then had another call (false alarm, a hot water service at a school set off the heat detector which was strangely located right above it!), then I got held back (retained) for an hour and half because three people from the oncoming shift didn't come in to work so three of my shift had to stay to maintain the minimum manning at the station!!

Came home to find Kaz working and our dinner ready to be served up! Kaz is ridiculously busy at the moment and quite stressed, but still manages to be a great 'house wife' when I have to work during the day! Spence was already in bed so I haven't been able to see him today. I will poke my head in his room on my way to bed to check on him!

Today's blip was taken at the fire station of a carved crocodile that was hanging about in the lounge room! I don't know where it came from or how long it has been there, but it seems to have been awhile!! I don't know what type of wood it has been carved out of, but I liked the yellow 'growth' on it and the pattern of the carvings.
