Thistle Down

White Geraniums

White Geraniums,
She loved you so.
Placed in her garden,
A long time ago.

White Geraniums,
Still growing there,
And edged so lovely,
Like silvery hair.

White Geraniums,
So pale and so fair.
You sway...as she did,
In the old rocking-chair.

White Geraniums,
In gay throated-lace,
Quick glances reveal,
my Grandmother's face.

Poem #2

White Geraniums,
An earth-bound tie.
My mother loved you,
As years have gone by.

White geraniums,
In silence...I stare,
Your clusters are open,
As I give you...my care.

White geraniums,
Soft petals you wear.
My own Mother's smile,
Is now pictured there.

White Geraniums,
Dear faces I see.
The buds of today,
Will be there for me.

Poem #3

White Geraniums,
Placed there for me.
Put in my garden,
For me to make three.

White Geraniums,
I love you so.
Plumy-white blossoms,
Lush where you grow.

White Geraniums,
Carefully I seek.
To lay your soft petals,
Up to my cheek.

White Geraniums,
Your beauty doth show.
I am remaining,
And I love you so.

Quote from Ethel; "Three generations of...White Geraniums...have blessed our home..they are a tradition, and I love them. Whenever I see...White Geraniums...I see my Grandmother's and Mother's faces."

For Family; I couldn't pick from the three poems that Grandma wrote about White Geraniums - so I included all three in tribute to the three generations she spoke of. Now I will add White Geraniums to my garden and that will make five generations - and I'll see that my daughters also have them so now it is six.
